Many players don't typically use the controls offered by the D-pad, some don't even know what the D-pad does! The D-pad is very useful, especially if you are a good tactician from watching real-life football. The D-pad can be used to make four tactical adjustments:

 

Abbreviation Name Action
OW Opposite Wing Attack Teammate(s) makes a run on the opposite wing than you are attacking on so you can play the ball to him wide open.
DA Defense Attack Sends a defender up the field to add another number to the attack.
TP Team Press Players on your team will quickly pressure the opposing team quickly and closely.
OT Offside Trap The defensive line will push up towards the half-way line, sometimes on the half-way line. This causes players of the opposing team to be caught offside more often.
